Help John and Wendy rebuild!

Donation protected
My friends John and Wendy lost their home in the Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa on Sunday, October 8. After awakening at 1 a.m. to smoke and raining embers, they had to flee in their cars through their burning neighborhood. Due to flames on the road, John had to divert down another road, and after his car got trapped by a locked gate and a fallen tree, he had to flee on foot, in the dark, through active fires, high winds, burning buildings, and flying branches and embers, all while trying desperately to keep his and Wendy’s dog Lorca with him. John and Wendy finally met up at a Santa Rosa hospital after John reached safety with burned clothes, severe smoke inhalation, and semi-blinded from soot and cinders. But tragically, their dog Lorca did not make it out of the fire zone. John and Wendy are grieving and also having to grapple with paperwork, finding a place to stay long-term, and of course replacing just about everything they own. Like so many, they fled with little more than their cell phones and the clothes they were wearing.

Their friends and family are glad beyond measure that John and Wendy are safe and sound! And John and Wendy have reiterated how grateful they are for all the love and support. Now we want to do everything we can to help them get on their feet and move forward. Please make a donation to help John and Wendy rebuild!

John and Wendy are also very concerned about helping others in need in the area; one place to consider is undocufund.org, which is providing crucial aid to the many undocumented people affected by the fires. Coming together in times like this is what keeps us all going. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for being there and for making a donation to the John and Wendy fund!

Please note: The goal amount is just there to keep the fundraising open-ended. Any amount at all that you can give will go a long way toward helping John and Wendy begin the long process of recovery! These funds will go toward replacing basic living items like clothes, appliances, dishes, etc. (pretty much all that is needed in a house and home), as well as toward the massive costs of rebuilding--materials, tools, construction expenses, etc.
