Joey's Rehab treatment

I am starting this fundraiser to help save my son Joey McCormack's life. This is hard for myself and Joey's father as we do not like asking for help. For those of you that do not know, our son was in a major vehicle accident in February of 2013. He fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree head on going highway speeds. The accident nearly killed him. He had blunt force trauma to his organs and had facial injuries. He spent many many days in the hospital and there was fear his intestines would not start working. Well with surgery and care he pulled through it. But, at this point we believe he developed a drug dependency or as most call it addiction. He got better and went back to work. Then not even a year later he had a motorcycle accident. He crushed his shoulder and ended up with a steel plate and cadaver bone being added to his shoulder and several blood transfusions and more drugs. Since all of this he has been heading down a really bad road. He tried rehab after being forced to go by his brother and I a year ago. He only went for 30 days and he fell back into the drug world. This time he has decided he can not do this anymore and is afraid he will die if he does not get help. He is currently in a 30-40 day rehab and will be going through a extended program in Southern California. The program will teach him to live a healthy adult lifestyle without drugs. He will receive lots of psychiatric counseling and be monitored and treated by doctors. The program is 10 weeks and it costs $395.00 a weeks above what insurance is paying. This is an extremely hard time for his father and I to come up with this much money. We are asking for help to send our son for treatment. We have to come up with as much as possible by 12/3/17. Any little bit helps and we would be so grateful. If you have any questions about where Joey will be or the program or just any questions feel free to contact me or his father....

The following is what Joey asked me to include. Some may be repeated but its directly from him-

“In February 2013 I fell asleep while driving and hit a tree going approximately 55 mph... I got blunt force trauma to my stomach, intestines and colon. While in the hospital for about a month I was on a pain medication button. When I got out of the hospital I was prescribed heavy pain killers. As pain was seeming forever to go away I stayed on these pills not realizing a problem was already starting. In high school somebody introduced me to Heroin as a cheaper alternative to pills. Heroin worked great at first then soon became my worst enemy. I ended up so hooked on it that I couldn't work, visit family, or socialize with people who were not users. November 3rd 2017, after years of misery I decided that I've had enough. I called my father to ask for help. The next day I was in a car on my way to check into rehab. I am only fully covered by my insurance for 30-40 days of treatment. Around December 3rd this year I plan to transition from inpatient treatment to intensive out patient treatment for 8-10 weeks in Southern California. The only down fall is that this program costs around $400 a week, this program is known for success. I have learned a lot in inpatient treatment, however the out patient treatment teaches you how to live life again, without drugs I've been addicted to and accustomed to being around for years. If I can cover the cost of this program I will be transitioning to it in the beginning of December. I thank all who can donate any amount to go toward my recovery. This has been a hard road to walk but starting from this moment on I want to change from living the addictive lifestyle because it has broken and beaten me down heavily. I have harmed my loved ones who truly care about me, I know I can beat this disease and live in a healthy lifestyle. I have learned a lot in 30 days, but I am scared that 30 days is not enough treatment, that I wont make it. There are still many things I want to work on with the help of counselors and doctors. Any and all donations will mean I have a better chance of making it to tomorrow. Thank you....Joey”
