Joey and his Superman Juice

Donation protected
For those of you who don't know Jimmy and Jennifer welcomed their son, Joey, into the world back in November and he is perfect.  After what should've been a routine trip to the doctor (and many more not so routine tests) Joey was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.  The news was devastating.  To find out that Joey had this disease was shocking, but not nearly as heart stopping as to know what this disease meant.  Most infants who are diagnosed with Type 1 SMA will not live to be 10 months old.  Needless to say this news was not acceptable for Jimmy and Jennifer.  My brother did more research in 2 weeks than he did in all of his years of schooling.  He looked into medicines and studies and grants and support groups...
Through the grace of God and an amazing doctor, Joey was accepted into a study where he was just given "gene replacement therapy".  His mother refers to this as his Superman Juice.  The rules to get him into this study are very strict.  Joey must be germ free.  He can not have any viruses and he must constantly be gaining weight.
Jennifer was a beloved preschool teacher, and while she loves her job, she could not risk Joey being denied entry into this study.  As long as Joey's health is in danger, Jennifer will need to be home with him.  Jennifer is the mother of 5 growing boys and right now Jimmy is the only working caregiver.  I would like to help raise this money to help offset the costs that they need to run their household while Jennifer needs to be home with their son.
