Five years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. If anyone you know has experienced this terrible condition, you will appreciate just how awful it is, devastating both the sufferer and the family that supports them. For this reason, I would like to raise as much money as I can to support the Alzheimer's Society in their endeavours to find a cure; my biggest wish is that there will come a day where no-one else has to endure what my mum has been through since diagnosis.
I plan to challenge myself by trekking 110 miles along the north Cornwall stretch of the South-West Coast Path, camping as I go. This will indeed be a challenge for me as my fitness levels have somewhat declined in recent years, and parts of the coast path are practically vertical! But raising money for such an important cause will definitely spur me along to the finish line.
I plan to spread the message as I walk, hopefully encouraging more donations. I will also write a blog describing my trek and sharing photographs of this incredibly beautiful corner of south-west England. If you make a donation, however small, I will sign you up!
Mum absolutely adored north Cornwall, and we spent many happy days walking the coastal path with our dogs; this trek is in her honour.
