In Support of Joelle Park & Her Loving Family

Seung Joon (Michael) and Josephine Park are the kindest and most genuine couple you could ever come across. They are affectionately referred to as Park and Jojo by their friends, family, coworkers, and members of their congregation.
Together, they have a healthy, happy, and curious little two year old boy named Tobias and a spunky little American Eskimo dog named Scooby.
On August 17th, 2019, the Parks were delighted to welcome their new baby girl, Joelle, to the family. She was born three weeks premature at Markham Stouffville Hospital and was routinely admitted into the NICU.
She was joyfully brought home five days later, but began to suffer from intermittent apnea episodes, often turning pale as a result. She was brought back to the hospital, where it was determined that she was having seizures and was immediately transferred to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital.
By the time Joelle was 15 days old, she had already endured spinal fluid sampling, a blood transfusion, daily blood tests, and two MRIs. The first MRI indicated an injury to her brain. She was initially diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy, however after suffering four more seizures within a 40 minute span, a second MRI revealed that Joelle's brain was deteriorating.
The only remaining explanation for her condition is a mitochondrial disorder, which would take months to receive results for. Unfortunately there is no treatment or cure for abnormalities at the cellular level.
Joelle is not expected to survive. She has become increasingly lethargic and lost the motivation to breathe.
The Parks have rented a nearby apartment in order to facilitate their daily visits with Joelle. With Jojo on maternity leave and Park on parental leave, it's not hard to imagine the financial strain they've had to endure in addition to the tremendous emotional turmoil they are facing. On top of all that, they are now faced with the challenges of having to plan a funeral for their daughter.
