Joel Hartman Baseball Memorial

Donation protected

This has been something heavy on our hearts for the last six years. We've been working with the LeRoy High School Baseball staff on something that could remember the best friend a guy could ever have. It's emotional writing this post thinking how a great guy could get taken from us so soon. It was six years ago in September. He was honest, grateful, humble, compassionate and was the definition of CHARACTER.

His name was Joel Hartman. He lived on this earth for 33 great years and we were blessed to have him as a classmate, teammate and a great friend. It happens a lot on a clear sunny day when I look to the heavens and simply smile. I know he's up there smiling back....I miss that smile.

We are extremely excited to start a fund raiser for this memorial that will be placed behind home plate of a field Joel knew well. It was more than a baseball field to us, it was like a second home where we hung out. We had a ton of fun!  We laughed, made dirt piles, grew relationships, raked the field, learned life lessons, did everything we could to dry it out at times, pulled some pranks, played to the best of our abilities and won a conference championship together on that field. We are beyond blessed to have an opportunity to help remember a truly great friend. Here's a picture that has designed for the memorial.

We are looking to raise $4K to fund the project, but have also had people ask if they can donate in other ways as well.  Any donations, whether monetary, materials or labor would be appreciated.  We can't wait to make this a reality with your help in the Spring of 2018!  Thank you so much.  We are very blessed to have great people in our lives, especially in our loving community of LeRoy.  Ryan Anderson, Coach Meyer and myself (Bo) will be leading this to completion.  Thank you all!!

New info.....

For transparency on this project.  All funds raised will go into my personal bank account.  We have contracted out Danny Prospal for the wall.  I will pay him with a personal check from these funds raised and then give a personal check with the remaining funds to Coach Meyer and the LeRoy baseball program.  As this is a one time fund raiser, I didn't want to open a new bank account specificlly for this.  I wanted to be clear with everyone on how the money will be distributed.  We are targeting to get this work started in October and completed in November.  Thanks again!!
