As some of you may know, this fall will be 3 years since Joel had his first seizure, resulting in doctors finding a brain tumor. Shortly after that discovery, the tumor was successfully removed. Thanks to the Lord's provisions and healing hands on Joel, his cancer has not come back.

However, there is still an actual gap in Joel's brain where the tumor was. This makes him prone to seizures, which means he takes a strong seizure medication to prevent these seizures. However, sometimes the seizures still come.

Joel recently suffered multiple seizures throughout the span of about 24 hours that landed him in the Neuro-I.C.U. He was in the I.C.U. for three scary days. There, we waited for him to wake up from his postictal state, where he didn't speak for two days. We all felt a numbness as we waited for our Joe to pull through.

Thankfully, he began to speak, eat and do some other things the doctors wanted to see him be able to do. Because of this he was moved out of the I.C.U. to the acute care unit. Here, he is remembering things about his life more and more, but he struggles with his short-term memory.

All of this to say, our Joel has a long road ahead of him. His doctors do however expect a full recovery, but what they do not know is how long it may take for him to remember everything. Joel's hospital stay is extended, and at this point will most definitely be over a week. This stay is paired with several other extended hospital stays over the span of the past 3 years, all associated with his battle and fight with cancer and all of the ways it has affected his life. An extended stay in any part of the hospital is costly, much less the I.C.U. That, paired with ambulance rides, his 6-month check-ups and MRIs that he will have for the rest of his life, comes with an overwhelming financial burden.

This also means Joel cannot work, at least until he regains his memory. We have been asked by many of you how you can help, we humbly say that financially is one of many ways you can lend a hand to our sweet Joel. First and foremost, we ask that you pray for Joel. Pray his memory returns. Pray for patience, as he is frustrated with his inability to do regular things, but doesn't understand why. Pray that the Lord, the ultimate Healer, will lay His hands on Joel's life and deliver him from his illness. Pray for our family. My Mom, Joel's fiancé Kelli, and the rest of us all bear our sweet Joe's burden. We want the best for him, and we hate seeing him hurt.

We thank you for your prayers and/or contributions. Our hope with this campaign is that we will be able to relieve Joel of some of the huge financial burden he is facing. Thank you,

With love and appreciation,
