Joel is a junior at Rosemount High School, and part of a loving family, including an older sister and three younger brothers, as well as countless hockey brothers, both from RAHA and from Rosemount High School Hockey, where he lettered as a sophomore in the 2018/2019 hockey season.

On Sunday, July 14th, Joel was severely injured in a freak pool accident.  He broke two vertebrae, and is suffering from a spinal cord injury.  He underwent a six-hour surgery on Monday, July 15th, to stabilize the spine, which involved removing the C4 vertebrae and fusing C3 to C5.  At this time, Joel can move and feel his arms, and is beginning to have feeling in his legs.  The full ramifications of this event won't be known for a long time, but he will have a long road ahead no matter what the outcome, including an extensive hospital stay and intensive inpatient rehabilitation.

Many of you know this awesome family, and have been asking how you can help.  First and foremost, the family humbly asks for everyone to keep praying for Joel, for his family, and for his medical team.  In addition, the Rosemount hockey community is requesting donations for this family that works tirelessly in the community, at church and at the hockey rink.  Scott and MJ want everyone to know that the money raised will go toward Joel's recovery process.

Updates on Joel's progress will be posted here, as well as on the "Joel Carlson Updates" Facebook page, as soon as they become available.

Thank you in advance for your support, both financially and spiritually.
