Joe's Fund for Life

"Life is so ironic, it takes sadness to know what happiness is, noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence."

A little over 2 years ago, our family began a journey we never anticipated as Joe was diagnosed with a brain tumor; an Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Joe spent the initial 6 weeks following his diagnosis being treated with a combination of oral chemotherapy and daily radiation treatments. Once radiation was complete, Joe was treated monthly for the next 18 months with the same oral chemotherapy.

Fast forward to November of 2017, we learned the tumor was no longer responding to the treatment regimen at that time. The decision was made to adjust his treatment plan to intra-arterial chemotherapy that was delivered directly to the site of the brain tumor. After 2 rounds of treatment, Joe developed significant symptoms including headaches, vomiting, seizure activity and memory deficits. Joe's most recent MRI revealed we no longer have control over the brain tumor as it's grown rapidly in a matter of weeks. There are no other treatment options available and the decision was made to transition Joe to hospice care.

Today we started our new journey to assure Joe is kept comfortable and that he is afforded the quality of life he deserves. Our family is asking for your help. Funding we raise here will go to support Joe, Shannon and their kids with medical expenses, wages lost with Shannon being out of work at various times to meet Joe's needs and any additional expenses incurred as we help care for their family.

Over the past 2 years and to the present day, we have been greatly humbled by the outpouring of love and support from all of you. We ask that you continue to keep Joe, Shannon, their kids and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers.

"When we pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them. So when you are safe and happy, remember that someone is praying for you."
