Joe Serpa Medical Miracle

My brother, Joe Serpa, was diagnosed with septic shock and necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria) in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Emergency surgery was done to remove skin and tissue from the right side of his groin leaving him with a gaping hole in his groin and his body was systematically shutting down. If you know Serpa you know he's not a quitter and with the help of the wonderful staff at New York Presbyterian, on Friday morning he opened his beautiful eyes and was breathing on his own. He has fought from death's door but has a long road to go. They are not able to close his surgical site because they have to continue to check any return for dead tissue and bacteria. He's going to need additional surgery to close the site, skin graphs, plastic surgery and rehab. When he comes home, he'll need a full time time care and nursing care because he will not be able to be left alone. My brother and his fiancee April have always helped anyone and every one. Now I'm asking for them. They are going to need help to pay their bills and medical bills. If you are able to donate anything, my family thanks you.
