With a heavy heart ❤️ I describe my friend, brother and coworker Joe who tragically lost his life September 21st 2017 on the job doing what he truly loved doing.
As a friend his loyalty was unbreakable. If you were his "boy" he would break and bust on you relentlessly which was a true sign he loved you. He cared and looked out for the apprentices and was a great teacher of his trade, sometimes harsh in his words it was only out of love and concern that they secure a future in the business to provide for their family.
He always spoke of his love of his children and was very proud of them.
A proud Met,Knick and a Jet fan he never shied away from defending them .
Affectionately gave me the name "Dirt" and I wore it with a badge of honor as I knew then I was his "boy".
As many of us knew him, then he probably had a name for you as well.
On this tragic day for us in the Joe Pacheco circle let us be reminded of all that is truly important. Good friends and family, honest work and loyalty .
The IBEW Local Union #3 has lost a true Brother and proud member and if you are a member then you were in his circle.
He leaves behind two Children who were fortunate to have him as we all were.
Let us all support Joe and his Family in this time of tragedy and help ease the burden. We work in a highly dangerous job that has high risk and high reward. It could be any of us at that same moment.
Also would like to thank the brothers who responded to help Joe and Mel immediately. They showed true courage, we are all grateful.
Please share with as many people as possible and pray for Mel in his recovery.
