Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, 3 years ago my sister, Julie Weaver and her beloved husband Joe, were given devastating news. Joe was diagnosed with a rare and fatal condition called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). At only 54 years old, the life sustaining systems in Joe’s body are shutting down.
These junior high sweethearts have sold their beautiful home and moved into a patio home for 2 reasons: First, to be close to their children and grandchildren as Joe’s care will require more help. And second, to reduce their expenses for ongoing medical treatment.
Recently, they learned of a promising treatment which has seen amazing results through the Michael J. Fox Foundation. It won’t repair the damage done but seems to stay the progression of the disease which will allow Joe to continue to be the wonderful husband, father and “Papaw Peanut” that he is.
Joe and Julie have lived life with an open hand…..opening their home to others needing a place to live.... students, missionaries and pastors and opened their their pockets when others faced financial crises.
Now, they are in a season of need. Because the treatment is considered experimental, none of it is covered by insurance. Joes symptoms have been exponentially growing in the last 6 months so the start of treatment is urgent.
