Joe Hayes Memorial Shriners Fund

The passing of Joe Hayes, our dear friend and brother, has been a devastating blow to those whose life he shared. Joe was surrounded by friends as family as he passed away during the evening of July 16 after complications from a prior liver transplant.
          Joe was an active member of the Lambda Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega for many years. He pledged in Spring 2004, held multiple executive board and other offices, and helped to ensure the legacy of our fraternity by serving as a mentor and big for incoming pledges. After only a few years as an active brother, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Key for his extrordinary involvement in our fraternity. In the years since, he has continued to exemplify the qualities of leadership, friendship, and service that form the cornerstones of our values. 
          For those that met Joe, it quickly became obvious that his prosthetic arm was as much a part of his personality as it was physically. His arm was furnished to him throughout his childhood at no cost by the Shriners, and he often remarked how important this organization was to him. To help celebtate his life and honor his memory, donations are being requested for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
