Joe Donnelly's Home Recovery Fund

My brother Joe Donnelly and his family have been forced to say goodbye to their home after the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. Being located just outside Arcadia, they suffered a direct hit from one of the most powerful hurricanes on record to ever hit Southwest Florida. Although they were able to leave and remain safe during the storm, the aftermath has left them without a home to go back to and most of their belongings have been lost in the flood. The house is uninhabitable and they have no insurance to help rebuild.
The area is now being closely monitored by the National Guard and residents are being strongly discouraged from returning to their homes because of the dangerous flood waters and severe damage. Joe and his family are fortunate to be able to stay with relatives who live near me in Sarasota temporarily, but must slowly begin piecing their lives back together. A shell of what was once their home still stands with 3 feet of water inside and the nearby river continuing to rise, reaching 11 feet above normal.
As the dust has begun to settle, they are now searching diligently for a new place to live and all of the supplies they need for sustenance and to return to normalcy. They must also struggle to continue paying a mortgage for a place they are no longer able live in. They also have two children that are now left without a school to return to or any supplies for their education. They will have to make a transition to new schools in Sarasota, leaving behind their old classmates and starting all over again in a new environment.
This has been extremely difficult for all of us and has been especially costly both emotionally and financially for Joe and his family. We cannot truly put a price on the loss of a home, but the financial obligations for what was there still remain. Any help that is received for Joe and is family will be tremendously appreciated. Although our goal to raise these funds will not allow them to rebuild their home, it will help them to start over.
All funds will go directly towards paying for a home to rent for the family, furniture, basic clothing, school supplies, and helping them to rebuild the home they lost in the disaster. Our parents, Steve & Carolyn Donnelly, will withdraw the funds on Joe's behalf and personally deliver them periodically as legitimately needed.
