Joe Crabb's Road to Recovery

April 1st, 2018, Joe Crabb was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera (a slow-growing blood cancer in which your bone marrow makes too many red blood cells).  This coupled with his existing Eosinophilic Esophagitis (severe food allergies) and MALS syndrome (ligament wrapped around his celiac artery) has proven to be what doctors have called, a "Double Whammy."  Every other week, Joe has to report to Highlands Oncology where he has extensive blood work and treatment for what his body needs whether that be removal of blood, as he produces too much, or liquid iron by IV.  He has had a very invasive surgery to try and correct the MALS syndrome, which required him to be hospitalized for 10 days.  He was hospitalized for 18 days prior to that, before they were able to diagnose it.  He will continue to have additional procedures once a month to have his duodenum stretched to alleviate the stress on his intestines.  On Tuesday, September 18th, Joe's GP doctor decided, with the blessing of his other doctors, that The Mayo Clinic is the next step.  He will be reporting to The Mayo Clinic on December 3rd, with a stay of at least 7 days but could be up to 12 days.  It is our hope that through this visit, they can get all of this under control so our Crabb can live a long, happy and painless life. 

Medical bills have continued to rack up with no end in sight.  His trip to the Mayo clinic will also be quite expensive with travel, lodging and food.  While Joe knows this GoFundMe campaign is being set up, he has a hard time asking for help.  Joe would give his last cent to those that are lucky enough to be called "friends" and it's our turn to show him that we are here to help him through this.  Please consider giving what you can to help our friend in his time of need.  May God bless each of you and WOOO PIG SOOIE!
