Jody and Lieutenant Lobin's Road To Tokyo 2021

Donation protected
Hey everyone! I’m Jody.

Thanks for taking the time to view my GoFundMe and learn a bit more about the road that led Lieutenant Lobin and I to represent Canada in the upcoming Paralympic Games in Tokyo in August 2021.

When I was 23 I was in a car accident that caused a very serious brain injury. I was in a coma for 4 months and was left unable to walk unassisted or speak clearly, and spent 4 years in a rehabilitation centre. At one point I was asked “What do you want to do most Jody?” and I remembered thinking to myself “the same thing I wanted to do before the accident, and for my whole life… so they gave me a letter board and I spelled out what I’ve always wanted… I wanted to RIDE!

The last Paralympics I competed in was in London for the 2012 Paralympic games in which I helped team Canada place eighth overall with my horse Inspector Rebus. I have aspirations of going all the way and helping team Canada place 1st in Tokyo and bringing home gold with my current horse Lt. Lobin.  Lt. Lobin is a 15-year-old Danish Warmblood, he takes his training very seriously eating a strict diet, while on occasion indulging in snacks on his off day (specifically carrots), but is a full-time kisses-giver.

I am so excited to announce that I have officially qualified for Team Canada, and will be representing the Canadian Para Equestrian Team at the Paralympics in Tokyo!  I will be documenting my journey all the way to and from Tokyo on all my social media platforms and with updates right here on my GoFundMe page!

Para-Equestrian riding is a very costly sport to compete in which is why I’m starting this GoFundMe. Donations I receive will go to things such as transportation costs, stable and grooming costs, and all the other little things that go into traveling across to the other side of the world like feeding Lt. Lobin (he can get a bit fussy without food). By reaching the $3000 goal mark, I would not only raise enough funds to go and compete in Tokyo 2021 but also represent our country and every person who has ever had to overcome a fear, challenge or adversary and show everyone on the world stage with enough courage and hard-work, you too can accomplish your dreams.
