Pictured above is my friend, Jody Sloan and her family. Jody is wife to David, mother to Dawn, Ryan, Stacey, Zachary and Matthew. She is a daughter, an aunt, a friend, a substitute teacher, an accomplished seamstress and so much more. She also is a warrior.
Jody has been fighting breast cancer since she was first diagnosed in 2013. She had a mastectomy and multiple surgeries for infections, etc., in the years since, 8 surgeries total. Despite all the medical efforts initially, Jody was more recently diagnosed with invasive breast cancer with cancer in a lymph node in June 2016. This past week, Jody completed chemotherapy and after a short break will begin radiation therapy. She has consulted with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to determine the next steps in her treatment. Of course this all costs money, and even with insurance, she is still paying on bills since the first bout with cancer in 2013, when she received the most recent diagnosis.
The money made here and at her local benefit on January 28th, will be spent for medical bills incurred in her fight with cancer. When I was 19 years old, the town I lived in did a benefit for my family. My mom's kidney transplant was very expensive and overwhelming. I know how much it helped my family, that is why it is so important to me to help Jody. I've been there. Please help us to help Jody to be able to focus on healing, and enjoying her beautiful life, her beautiful family and not worry as much about her finances.
