Jodi's fight against Breast Cancer

In October, our family received very unexpected and devastating news, Jodi was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We have since found out that her cancer is at a Stage 2 and is one of the most aggressive forms of Breast Cancer, Triple Negative. It can be very aggressive. She began chemotherapy this week and will be undergoing a 20 week chemotherapy treatment regimen. Upon completion, she will be heading into surgery for a complete double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

Due to the type of Breast Cancer she has and our family history, genetic testing was ordered to see if she is a genetic carrier of any genes that would increase her predisposition to developing cancer. She indeed tested positive for BRCA1. Being BRCA1 positive not only puts her at an increased risk of having developed the Breast Cancer she has but it also increases her risk of other cancers including Ovarian Cancer. Do to this, she will subsequently have an ovary removed. Her previous hysterectomy made it so she only has one remaining ovary, though, it must be removed.

Jodi is a single mom of five children, her two teenage daughters still live at home with her. Undergoing chemotherapy has left her unable to work or volunteer as she previously had done on a very regular basis. Medical bills and expenses are piling up and the holiday season adds another layer of stress to the situation. Donations will help with medical bills as well as gas and supplies needed to get to and from medical appointments. With the emotional toll cancer takes, some financial security will help her feel a sense of independence. Anything you can give is appreciated.
