Hello friends! During our initial conversations with artist Jodi Connelly about her upcoming project at TGTG, we challenged her to pitch the ‘impossible’ ideas that she's been harboring, regardless of perceived roadblocks, and to let us help her navigate the logistics.
Fortunately, she took us up on that offer and now she's busy slogging through all the prep work needed to execute a truly ambitious transformation of the Garage. This show will be something special, and absolutely a worthwhile addition to the Sacramento art scene. We're proud of Jodi for diving off that cliff into such a challenging creative endeavor!
There are many challenges to producing this work the right way - labor hours, construction logistics, and as always, financing. This last one is where we could use some help, and we hope you'll consider donating if you can spare it.
We anticipate $2,200-$2,600 in material costs, including many gallons of standard wall and floor paint, nearly $1k in specialty paint, drywall, lumber, and the myriad last minute supplies every installation requires. Any funds raised will be distributed in order:
1) To cover Jodi's substantial out-of-pocket expenses; she is buying the bulk of the supplies for the artwork. We are hoping to 100% reimburse her through the fundraiser.
2) To cover Jen and Jefferson's out-of-pocket costs to repair the Garage when the installation is deinstalled. The walls will require drywall, framing, and insulation repairs, as well as a complete repainting of walls and floors.
3) Any leftover funds will go towards defraying the costs of TGTG initiatives, which have been self-funded since we opened in 2018.
