My name is Cindy Hernandez, my daughter Jocelyn Elizabeth Cornejo was your typical sweet, caring, silly, gracious, very sassy and spontaneous little four-year-old girl. After several months fighting a battle against Brain Cancer, my dear baby girl bravely threw the towel and peacefully gave her last breath on Sunday, July 9th, 2017 at 2:33 pm. She parted this world with a sweet peaceful serene smile amongst the presence of her loved ones including myself, Godparents and other close family members and friends. This has been a very tough time for my other two children, mom, and all the other family members and friends who were privileged to have met and shared wonderful moments with my precious "Jocy" as many of you know her and remember her by. I am an emotional roller coaster at this point and broken beyond words can describe. The only thing keeping me going is knowing that my other two children need me to be strong and the tremendous love and support I've been receiving from family and friends. I am extremely appreciative for all the donations that have been received as it has helped me with the daily and medical expenses that I have incurred during the past several months due to the inability of being able to juggle a full time job during jocelyns treatment. For those who may not know the full story of her battle with brain cancer:
What the doctors originally thought was pneumonia ended up being our worst nightmare, a malignant brain tumor. This all transpired, from first symptoms to the 6 hour brain surgery, in 8 days. Jocelyn was only 4 years old and loved all things that have anything to do with being a Princess.
The oncology doctors conferred and even though they removed all of the tumor, Jocelyn needed to have radiation at the site of the tumor. It was a modern and very specific type of radiation that was administered 5 days a week for 6 weeks at the University of Maryland. It was very important that this sweet little 4 year old stayed very still while the radiation treatment was being given. As a result, they first put a port into Jocelyn to administer anesthesia at every treatment. They put Jocelyn to sleep every day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks. While she had radiation and afterwards, Jocelyn was taking oral chemotherapy given at home on a daily basis.
This meant that I have had to quit my job to stay home to take Jocelyn to her daily radiation treatment and to be there with her daily for the 4-5 hours it took from anasthesia, to radiation , to coming out of anasthesia. The financial needs are still very great. We had to move in with my mother and brother to help support us through this crisis. Insurance has not covered all of the medical costs, there are still all of the other bills that must be paid that my salary would have been used to pay in the past amongst funeral and burial costs.
Please help me give her the proper burial fit for the princess that Jocelyn is. Every little bit helps. I truly appreciate each and every donation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
