Hi, I am Lorraine McDonell and I am trying to raise money for medical expenses for our good friends Joanne and Michael to help with the cost of Joanne's medical treatments and expenses!
Joanne (an absolute delight with such a great outlook), was diagnosed with an incurable Desmoid Sarcoma Tumor back in October of 2009, which was devastating. She went on to have surgery in January of 2010, which was unsuccessful.
In January 2010 Joanne had a permanent port placed in her chest to help with the long term ongoing chemotherapy treatments. Then, in June of 2010 she suffered a small stroke from the blood thinners she was on, which sent her to a rehabilitation facility for an extended stay.
In February of 2010 after the surgery, Joanne then had a pulmonary embolism, which again was devastating and sent her to the hospital and then to rehab.
After about 7 years of chemotherapy treatment, Joanne now has severe Aortic Stenosis to which she would need a valve replacement however, cannot because of the tumor in her chest.
In September of this year, she broke her foot in two places and has been in a rehabilitation facility to this date and is not sure if she will be home by Christmas.
The ongoing medical expenses are devastating Joanne and Michael and they so desperately could use whatever help they can get.
She just received 2 injections that were not covered by insurance that cost a total of $11,000 dollars.
So far they have had to have:
· A stair lift installed in their home.
· A walk-in shower with proper support handles.
· Medication, co-payments as well as out of pocket payments for uncovered medicine.
· Hospital and doctor visit co-payments as well as her many rehabilitation facility stays with astronomical charges for care and transport to her appointments.
They are now faced with needing a handicap accessible vehicle that Joanne is able to get in and out of easier as well as further handicap adjustments in their home to make it easier for her to be in her home.
