Hello everyone! For those of you who know my Mom, Joanne, you know she is a caring and extremely passionate person. She has a love for animals unlike anyone I have ever known and cares deeply about those around her. She does everything she can for those she loves, even if that means giving her last of what she has. She is one of the strongest, most empathetic people I have known in my short 19 years.

In March of 1988, just after having her first born, she was diagnosed with Stage 2, Hodgkin's Lymphoma. With the grueling treatment of radiation, she overcame this cancer.

A little over 30 years later, she became sick with what the doctors thought was an infection, but with another opinion she was set up to have a mammogram, which she had not done in years.

Now, you may or may not believe in a higher power or any God, but our family does. Two nights before her diagnosis, I decided to pray on my bible and open it randomly for possible answers (it is something I have done since a child). So, I opened my bible...the first thing I set my eyes on was a passage that read...

“We have a little sister, she has no breasts. What shall we do for our sister on the day she is spoken for? If she is a wall, we will build upon her a battlement of silver; and if she is a door, we will enclose her with boards of cedar.”

My ultimate thought was Breast cancer, but in no way did I actually believe there was a chance. The mammogram results were positive for Breast Cancer, Stage 3, two days later. My heart broke.

Right away, she had a mastectomy of her left breast and removed 13 lymph nodes. She has had 2 of the 6 aggressive chemotherapy treatments so far, one every 3 weeks. She will obtain radiation treatment for an undisclosed amount of time after the chemotherapy. She will then go on to receive another chemical alone, called Anti-HER2 for one year. With only one household income coming from her husband, Jim, things are tough. He is the only one able to be with her up north, while us kids cannot always be there. Our family is coming together to do what we can, but we can only do so much. Right now the prognosis is good. She is being very optimistic with a positive attitude. We ask for your help to get her through this. She is the light of ours lives. Crystal, Jay, and I do not plan on losing our Mom anytime soon. Thank you all so much for your love and support.
