In her own words:
"The Forest Refuge is a place that has given so much peace to so many. These exquisite hand-built buildings that we lost have sheltered and restored many people over the years. Your kindness in responding to our loss means so much to me and to those who have been served by Refuge in this burning world.
Below, you will see a few photos of the fire and destruction. It has been such a powerful practice in accepting the truth of impermanence as I met the fire, and as well of connecting me to the many people who lost their homes in recent fires, to those who lost their lives, and to the importance of friends and community when catastrophe happens.
We are pulling ourselves out of the ashes and foam, working on cleanup, dealing with insurance issues (insurance will not even closely cover the cost of rebuilding, even if it comes through), fire inspectors, thanking the yogis (Sean, Baizan, Myoshin) who bravely saved the forest and local volunteer fire fighters who brought the fire down, and trying to raise funds for the next steps: https://www.upaya.org/giving/forest-refuge-rebuild-fund/"
Thank you for the consideration and assistance.
