On June 11th 2018 our family’s life changed forever. We received that phone call from the police that no parent ever wants to get. Our youngest son who is 21, Justin, was involved in a single vehicle motorcycle accident. The caller was not at the scene but advised us that we need to get to the hospital ASAP. The hospital assigned us a go to person upon arrival which was the hospital Chaplin. We were told he had lost his right arm and that he had severe head trauma even though he was wearing a helmet. The doctors told us that Justin’s survival was grave at best. We didn’t know if we were planning a funeral or praying for recovery. He was an organ donor and we were asked to start that process so when and if he passed everything would be ready to go. But God, Justin and our family and friends through the Power of Prayer had a different plan (now known as JustinsArmy).
The doctors told us that Justin’s brain would swell beyond its capacity and that he would become brain dead. Justin’s brain never swelled to a point of concern. We were told once we got past the brain swelling that Justin’s lungs due to ribs being broke and the severe bruising would never be able to produce enough oxygen to keep him alive. Justin’s lungs through God’s healing and JustinsArmy non-stop support and prayer healed so fast that they never had to increase the oxygen flow from a minimum level.
Over the last 3 months Justin has made significant progress in his recovery. Our family’s only wish was to be able to get him recovered far enough to get him home and to be able to once again see his best friend “Pebbles” his Great Dane. He has achieved through God’s grace and the Power of Prayer from family and friends what was once seemed an impossible goal.
The decision to bring Justin home versus a nursing home has been recommended by the team of doctors as the best possible care for the best possible outcome. However, in order to make that happen, Justin will need several things from a wheelchair, a hospital bed, Hoyer crane to lift him, shower chair, easy stander to help his entire body adjust to standing and keeping his legs and ankles positioned properly, in home care when family is not available and modifications to our family’s house. The bathroom will need to be redesigned and set up to aide Justin to be able shower and use the facilities. Entry ways will have to be made wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible vehicle will have to be made available for transportation to doctors’ visits. Please help JustinsArmy continue to build on the miracle of life that God and Justin have fought so hard for. This young man was not supposed to survive but yet there is now hope for some quality of life in this miracle. With your generous support he will be able to hopefully build on his miracle!!
