Loretta Rose Improta was born on December 29, 2017, at 4 lbs 13 oz. She was brought into this world by emergency c-section seven weeks early due to a heart condition called Ebstein’s Anomaly. Loretta spent her first month at Rady Children’s Hospital in the CVICU. Her first few months were challenging but she exceeded all expectations with her development.
Ebstein’s Anomaly is a congenital heart defect that causes a malformed heart valve not to close properly and keep the blood flow moving in the right direction. This condition usually requires multiple surgeries at an early age to correct the defect.
On June 18, 2018, Loretta Rose was taken in for a cardiac scope to evaluate her progress and determine the next steps in her treatment. While in recovery from this procedure, she went into cardiac arrest and was placed back in the CVICU. She had open heart surgery on July 7th and her recovery has progressed each day since. As of today, Loretta is still under close watch at Rady Children’s Hospital.
The support from Rob’s employer, Ticketmaster, has allowed him the necessary time off. Ashley’s plans to work part time from home are on hold. Both parents have been present around the clock during this critical time.
Many of you have already asked what you can do to help. Right now Rob and Ashley's sole focus is bringing Loretta home. Once home they will begin to get back to life outside of the hospital, which will unfortunately involve opening all of the medical bills that have been piling up.
They would never ask for it themselves, but the goal is to help Rob and Ashley get back to their lives after this extremely long and difficult road to bringing Loretta home happy and healthy. All donations will go towards Loretta’s medical treatment and care expenses. Any small amount our friends and families are able to donate is a message of love and support through this challenging time and is greatly appreciated.
