Bellefontaine Family Memorial Fund

Hi all,

This page is being set up in honour of my late brother, Shawn Bellefontaine, and his family. Shawn struggled with Epilepsy and chronic pain for much of his life, following an injury over 10 years ago in his early life. Shawn faced many defeats and rough turns in the past few years, including being bound to a wheelchair and medical bed in his home in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Sadly, my brother's body failed him and he passed away on November 27th, 2017 at the young age of 40. Although Shawn faced many struggles, anyone that knew him knows he always found a way to find joy in the people around him, namely his family- his wife Tara, the 4 children he raised with her, as well as his eldest son Toki, of Winnipeg. One of the three youngest, Georgina, 6, celebrated her birthday just one day after Shawn's passing. If you knew him personally, you probably found a lot of joy yourself out of the constant pictures and silly videos he posted of his young children, who absolutely think the world of their Daddy.

Aside from a Husband, and Father, Shawn was also a Son and a Brother to 6 others. He was the oldest of 7 and although he was an adult before some of us were even born, we can all agree on the influence and love he gave to us- especially in recent years. In the short time that we had together, he taught us a lot about caring for and supporting the people you love despite your own personal struggles. Even in the immense pain and discomfort he experienced daily, he still made an effort to cheer us on at track meets and ultimate games when he came to Winnipeg to visit, or complimenting us on our educational careers, our goals, and our aspirations. He never stopped reminding us how proud he was to be our older brother and while we didn’t always give him the same recognition he deserved I hope he knew we were proud of him too.

In emotional times like these the last thing a family should have to worry about is money, so I ask you to share or donate anything you can, for the wife and three small children he left behind. I have set up this page to help assist the family with costs of cremation, memorial, as well as general day-to-day costs of rent, groceries, etc as they move forward through this heartbreaking situation. The cost of cremation alone sits at $3,000. As the family resides in Alberta, Canada, the cost of living is substantial. Any additional funds would alleviate the need for his wife to work full-time hours and allow the family adequate time to grieve.

Myself and the family appreciate anything you are able to give, even as much as a share of the page to get the word out.

All donations will be provided to the immediate family.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and to my brother, I’ll never stop making you proud.

Thank you so much for your support, and God Bless you.
