Thank you for visiting our page. This story is about the Mimbela family: Armando, Bernarda, Gera, Lizeth and Alex. Little did the family know, on January 1, 2015, their world would be turned upside down and their lives changed forever. While stopping to help some family members who had wrecked along I-35 by Perry, Oklahoma, Armando and Bernarda got out of their car to see if they could help or render aide to their nephew. The highway patrol was there assessing the accident. On the way back to their car a woman driving on the interstate lost control of her car striking Armando and Bernarda. Their sons Gera and Alex witnessed the accident and rushed to be by the sides of their parents. Bernarda was transported by ambulance to Perry, Oklahoma hospital were she passed away from head injuries. Armando was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has a dislocated elbow, a broken sternum, broken ribs, multiple fractures in both legs, a lacerated spleen and a brain bleed. On January 3, 2015 Armando had the first of many surgeries to repair his shattered legs. The doctor said he will face numerous more and eventually be transported to a rehabilitation facility and that it will be at least a year to recover. At this point, it is uncertain when or whether he will be able to work again. The family of course is extremely devastated. They had a large extended family, but anyone who came to know them was family to them. Berna was the best cook around; everyone wanted food from Mrs. B's kitchen. She was also a caretaker, so to speak, she took care of everyone. She would bring you soup if you were sick, she would be the first to volunteer if we needed anything, and she was always smiling and kind hearted. Their daughter, Lizeth, is currently a student at Pioneer Tech in Ponca City, Oklahoma studying in the healthcare field. Their son Alex is a Freshman at Blackwell High School in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They currently lived at home with their parents. Their son Gera lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with his children and wife Ashley.

Berna and Armando were soul mates, truly made for each other. They were inseparable and the very example of what a marriage should be. They were happily married for 28 years. He is heartbroken and devastated, but remains strong, telling his children that God kept him here for a reason and they will get through this together.

Donations will go to make sure their two kids at home are taken care of as long as they need to be and to pay for the numerous medical bills to come. Please remember the family in your prayers. There is also a fund set up for the family at Banc First in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
