My coworker and friend Paula Carlile and her husband Rob are expecting their first child any day now. After previous loss, they have been nervously waiting for their daughter to reach full term.
Paula is a registered nurse who makes a living bringing complete strangers' babies into the world. She spends her weekends and holidays on her feet for 12 hours working hard to provide safe care for all the moms and babies that are trusted into her care.
Paula is an outstanding woman. She is always willing to help her coworkers and she always makes my day at work better. She's funny, caring and so unbelievably excited to be a mother.
Yesterday someone kicked down the door to their home and stole from them. They stole items all throughout the house including cash given to them by friends and family at her baby shower. This person went into their daughter's nursery, rummaged through baby items and stole the baby monitors.
What should be a time filled with expectation, excitement and joy is now occupied by police reports, fear, violation and anger. It's not the material items stolen that will be remembered, but the violation of someone stealing from their unborn daughter and the fear that this thief may return.
They are now having to spend the money they had saved for her maternity leave to repair the home and rekey both cars because they also stole the spare keys to both.
We live in a scary, violent world that seems to be filled with nothing but evil. But, there are still good, kind and generous people too. Doing great things.
Unfortunately, this is a terrible memory this couple will always have. But, with your help we can give it a different ending. We can show them that good does outweigh evil. But also how much we love and support Paula,Rob and Kiera.
Please help me to replace the money taken and spent on repairs so that these parents can have the TIME at home with their daughter they deserve. Thank you for whatever you can give. This time of year is especially hard for most. God Bless
