Tauren's Air Transport to New York

Donation protected
On December 29, 2014, Tauren Deas and family arrived in Maryland for a two day holiday trip. A college friend of Tauren’s, Marquel, met Tauren and her family at the hotel they were staying in and had dinner with them. Afterwards, Tauren went out with Marquel and his roommate Peter. Peter was driving.  Ten minutes after leaving the hotel, they were involved in a head-on collision.  At the same time Tauren, Marquel and Peter left the hotel, a high-speed police chase was taking place.  The pursued vehicle  was attempting to make a turn and lost control of the car, colliding into Marquel's car.   Marquel saw the car speeding in their direction but was unable to avoid a collision due to the sheer speed of the pursued vehicle. Upon impact, Tauren lost consciousness in the back seat of the car. All three individuals had to be pried out of the car by the Jaws of Life.

Tauren was admitted into Prince George’s Trauma Center where she was immediately operated on. Her spleen was removed and a rod was inserted into her skull to monitor the pressure of her brain. She received 15 stitches to the left side of her head and she was placed in a medically induced coma. Doctors in the Critical Care Center (CCC), reported that there may be damage to her lungs, numerous bodily fractures and she may have some brain damage. She is still on a respirator in the CCC.  Doctors want to see how she responds to commands so she is no longer sedated and in a lot of pain. The only pain medication she can receive is the kind that makes her drowsy. She cannot have Tylenol because it may do damage to her lungs.

Tauren has been responding to commands by lifting up two fingers and squeezing the hands of her mother and other visitors. This is a sign of improvement. The financial cost to Tauren’s mother, Lauren, and other family members is mounting.  As soon as the doctors give the approval, Tauren can be transported back to New York to receive additional medical treatment at NYU-Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in the Neurology Department.  She will then enter a rehabilitation facility.

The family is praying that she will be able to be transported soon. This would insure that individuals who were not  able to visit Tauren in Maryland, would be able to visit her in New York.  Due to Tauren’s present state, the only means of transportation she can take to New York would be by air. Unfortunately, transporting Tauren to New York comes with a cost. The cost to transport her would be approximately $20,000.  Although this is an exorbitant amount of money, if we have 1,000 people donate at least $20, we have reached our mark. We ask that you tell your friends, family, church members and co-workers so we can have our sister back with us. She needs you to open your hearts so she may make a full recovery back to her lively, loving self.

Tauren began a new job at the NYC Department of Homeless Services which she LOVED! With God’s healing hands, we pray that she would be able to be able to go back to work and continue to be the loving, caring, dependable and personable person that we love.

God is NOT finished with Tauren yet. She will be able to make a testimony about what she has done and be an inspiration to others. We all are witnesses, that "PRAYER WORKS" and "GOD IS GOOD"!

Please continue to pray for Tauren’s full recovery.

Thank you and God Bless You,

Tauren’s Family
