Jibril's Get Well Fund

Donation protected

Jibril has been diagnosed with infant botulism type A.  He is currently being treated at the UCSF Medical Center.  He is responding well to treatment for the botulism, smiling and beginning to call for his Mama.  He is also being treated for a collapsed lung, though he is able to breathe independently.  The doctors expect a full recovery.

Here are some more specifics on the dis-ease from his mother:
Getting infant botulism is so rare that you have a better chance at winning the mega lotto. One of the neurologists came by again last night and my dad asked her, "what are the chances of having two in the family getting it? (his cousin that lives in a totally different area got this eight years ago.) Answer: "incalculable"
Anyway, I wanted to share Jibril's signs which were said are textbook so that you all know what to look for in the crazy off chance it could happen to you....

Day one: all normal except no bowel movements.
Day two: same
Day three: latch became weak, easier to eat with the bottle.
(I thought maybe his throat was sore so we called the doctor and she said she'd see us the next day on a Sunday.)
Day four: ck up was declared fine and she said I could fly down to SD with him so my folks could help me while I healed from my burns but if he got worse then to call.
Day five: That night he was worse and I called at six in the morning to get another opinion.
Went in and his motor skills were so weak, he needed head support.
They immediately thought botulism, sent me to CHOMP and he was airlifted to UCSF.
He's never had any canned food or honey but the spores also live in the earth.
Recovery can take days or weeks but usually goes down fast.

It has been on my mind and heart how we can help Jibril, Wendy, and David beyond sending love, light, and healing prayers to their family.  Since they would never ask for donations themselves, I've asked their permission to start this donation site on their behalf to help them with the costs associated with Jibril's hospital stay and recovery.  These funds will help Wendy and David continue to be with and support their son's healing while alieviating some of the stress of finances.  I know Wendy and David have already expressed their overwhelming gratitude for all of the prayers and support they've already received.  I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in sharing with this wonderful, loving family.  No one could be more deserving of our love and support.
