I am striving to use technology in my first grade classroom so that my students will have the opportunity to maximize his/her potential through enriched technological experiences.
My first grade classroom is in need of iPads. iPads would allow my students to listen to audio books recorded by their teachers, the principal, older students, parents, local authors and other community members . I feel this tool will help my students by allowing them to visually follow along in a book while listening to the fluency and expression on an iPad.
We know that in order to read fluently, students must first hear and understand what fluent reading sounds like. With these iPads, I will be able to reach more of my students and help them to become fluent readers. During our literacy block, I allow students a choice of Listening to Reading. These iPads will give each student a wide variety of choices from various authors, genres and levels.
Your generous donations will help bring a love of reading to my students. Listening to stories is not only fun but enriches a child's vocabulary, comprehension and imagination!
There are so many more uses for the iPads in the classroom. I also look forward to using these iPads with my students to create podcasts, record their own fluency, practice math facts, and many, many more things.

***When purchasing the first three iPad mini's, I decided to get AppleCare for each iPad which added $79 more per iPad than I initialy planned. I have increased my donation goal to cover that increase.***
