My Volunteer trip to Nicaragua

My name is Kirah Knee, and this spring break I will be traveling to the town of La Concepción, Masaya Nicaragua. Ever since I was young I have been working with children who have special needs, and it has become a passion for me. Recently I was given the opportunity by three amazing women to travel to Nicaragua to help out with a school recently started there for children with special needs called CIELO de Amor. Not only will this be an amazing cultural experience, it is giving me the opportunity to grow in my Spanish, and learn from these truly talented women. One of my long term goals is to be a speech pathologist for children who have special needs, possibly in spanish as I would like to be fluent one day (hopefully soon).
The cost of me traveling there will be just over 1,000 dollars. My expenses being a plane ticket and travel insurance- 685 dollars, passport- 150 dollars, room and board- around 60 dollars, visa- 10 dollars, vaccines- 70 dollars, and additional spending money for traveling on the weekend to other fun places around La Concepción. I set my goal for 2,000 dollars because I would love to be able to bring money with me to donate to the school. The school is a non profit organization and every month it costs them 500 dollars to keep three staff employed there.
