JJ & Carol Medical Expenses

Carol Springer has been battling juvenile diabetes since childhood. Last fall, her doctor referred her to the University of Nebraska Medical Center to be evaluated for a kidney transplant. Her brother has been accepted as a donor and the surgeries are scheduled for later this year. As part of the pre-transplant testing, doctors discovered blockage in her heart that required open heart surgery in July this year. She is now ready for the kidney transplant.
Carol and her husband JJ are adoptive parents to four children – Dakota (15), Amy (14), Faith (12) and Alyssa (11), and have a close relationship with their seven-year-old former foster daughter who visits regularly. In addition to Carol’s medical expenses, their son has special educational and treatment needs which have required placements in expensive out-of-state facilities since 2015. The Springers have been paying for these placements and this will continue for the foreseeable future.
The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to assist JJ and Carol with the on-going costs of Dakota’s treatment and help with Carol’s medical expenses for the open-heart surgery and upcoming kidney transplant. These costs are in excess of any amounts reimbursed by insurance or other sources.
According to Dan Poppe of Archer Credit Union, “The Springers are an amazing family who have dedicated their lives to serving others both through their family and through their church. They have utilized every available resource and are in need of others to come along side of them during this financial crisis. All donations will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to JJ and Carol as the beneficiaries of this account to help with medical expenses and the needs of their family.”
A fundraiser meal is planned for Wednesday, November 14, at the Solt-Wagner Community Room, 1507 17th Street, Central City from 5:00 to 7:30 pm.
