Philippines Children's Mission

From October 1st to 11th we will be in the Philippines on a small island just off the northern part of Panay Island and Roxas City called Jintotolo Island. Two years ago when we went, we expected about 150 kids but ended up with over 700 children. It is very rare that any kind of visitor like this comes, so we pretty much had every kid from the island coming to us. It gave us a chance to share Jesus Christ with them, some some which had never heard.

So as we go again, we want to do what we did last time and purchase school supplies for the children. Many of them need to purchase a special book, just paper for writing, that they use in school. We have been told that many children will not go to school because they do not have the money to buy these books. But guess what? They only cost about $2 each. Can you imagine your child not going to school because you don’t have $2 to buy paper? It is unimaginable for us.

In addition, there is a certain pencil they need for taking exams in school which brings the total to $5 per child in order to provide this for them. Now it would cost $3,500 to provide for 700 children, which would mean someone would have to be exceptionally generous. But our goal is to raise $2,000 to purchase the supplies for 400 of the youngest and most needful on the island. 

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
