Jims Frostbite Recovery Fund

Last week, my husband, Jim Wiebe, was working in the frigid temperatures in northern Alberta and he froze his hands. The chains on the wheels of his truck became tangled, so he was trying to straighten them to get them back on the wheels, and they had become wedged in between the two duals. Even though he was wearing winter work gloves, and changing them out every 20 -30 minutes, the doctors said that because he was working with cold metal (it was -30*C at the time) his hands froze so fast, that he didn't even feel it.  He has severe frostbite on all of his fingers and thumbs, and we have to take him to Edmonton once a week to have his hands checked by the specialist.  He will definitely lose at least 3 of his fingers and possibly his thumb on his right hand, and possibly his index finger and thumb on his left hand. They figure it will be at least 3 months minimum of a recovery time, including many surgeries and skin grafts, and depending on how the healing process goes, it could be a year or more.  We are asking for help pay for fuel to drive him back and forth to Edmonton and to the clinics each day for bandage changes, as well as for his prescriptions, and any immediate bills, until we find out if WCB will cover these expenses. His prescriptions have already come to over $400 in just the last week, ( we do not have health benefits as the company he was working for did not have them) as well, we are having to drive 50 - 60 kms each day to have his bandages changed.   I am also offering 25% off discount in my Etsy Shop to help raise funds for immediate expenses.
