Jimmy Paul Schmidt, Jr., 37, forever treasured son, zealous father, endearing brother, honorable veteran and faithful friend was embraced into the arms of our Heavenly Father while delighting in the gift of nature at Catawba Falls, North Carolina; he resided in picturesque Savannah, Georgia.

Jimmy was born in Orlando Florida on December 9, 1980 to Jimmy and Karen (Favreau) Schmidt. He leaves behind two precious children, Amber and Aydon.

Jimmy served as an Aviation Electrician Mate, Petty Officer 2nd Class aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt; first carrier responder after September 11th in Operation Enduring Freedom and longest deployment since World War II. He  continued to protect his country aboard the USS Enterprise during his four years of service. The friendships gained during those years were some of the richest of his lifetime. Furthermore, he honed skills which prepared him to work in aeronautical mechanics for the majority of his working career.

Jimmy’s love of learning urged him to masterfully study aeronautical engineering and mechanics, horticulture and mathematics at esteemed schools including Embry Riddle University and Florida State University, amongst others. A graduate of Colonial High School, class of 1999, Jimmy obtained an academic scholarship and pursued many hobbies including baseball, trumpet and poetry. While in high school his rhapsodic works earned him national plaudit.

Gifted with a calling, Jimmy ministered God’s heart with others through goodness of fellowship, friendship and laughter – his hugs were unforgettable. Jimmy’s ability to reach others with his compassion, charming smile and unconditional love brought encouragement to all who crossed his journeys.

Jimmy will be remembered tenderly by his surviving family, including his loving and steadfast parents, his adoring sisters and their families, cousins, aunts and uncles.

His cherished and precious children are Mae Amber Schmidt and Aydon Ellis Schmidt-Gainer.
Mae, your daddy is always with you, loves you and is your biggest cheerleader. You are his forever “Princess Mae-Mae” and the sunshine of his heart!
Aydon, your daddy loves you, forever valued you and longed to hold your hand more often. His memorial was held the weekend of your birthday because you are his desired gift from God.

Mae and Aydon were Jimmy’s heart. Should anyone want to contribute monies in order to bless Jimmy’s children, please make a donation here. The money will be directly used to care for his children's present and future needs.
