My brother Jimmy (Jimbo) Freitas passed away unexpectedly on the morning of June 29th and left everyone who loved him heartbroken.
Despite the struggles Jimbo faced throughout his life and the dark shadows he could never escape, he was a "good kid" with a big and kind heart. Family meant everything to him and he relished in our special traditions and exuded a childlike spirit with each holiday, even the little ones.
He had a special way with children, always ready to play and be the creator of excitement and laughter. He had a special way with older people in our family and neighborhood, who all took notice and appreciated how polite and respectful he was and how he was happy to help whenever help was needed. He had a special way with animals, a true animal-lover. This is where you could see his heart at work in the purest form. He fed and gave affection to stray cats, and did round-the-clock motherly care to a baby bird who fell from its nest. The love, patience, and compassion he gave so freely were beautiful to witness. And to our family, we only wished he was able to give that to himself but he suffered tremendously. We did what we could to be there through the storms, never losing hope.
While nothing will fill this loss, I needed to do something that would help in some way. I don’t know what else to do. This page is setup to give you an opportunity to help our family with funeral and memorial expenses. I've never seen two people who have given so much of themselves to others, especially in times of greatest need, as my mom (Lynne) and dad (Big Jim) have. Manny and I will help out as much as we possibly can and we also lean on our community of family and friends to help contribute in "any way" so my parents can mourn the loss of their son, without having to worry about the cost of putting him to rest.
