Help Jim Mullins Recover

Hello, my name is Jim Mullins and I have a wonderful brother, Tim, who needs a Liver Transplant. He is suffering from an Auto Immune Deficiency called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis that attacked his Liver several years ago and his medications are no longer affective. After an exhaustive physical evaluation, it was determined I am a match to be the donor. I will be giving 60% of my liver to my brother (but don’t worry the liver can regenerate itself).
The operation will be March 9, 2015, in Boston (we live in Northern Virginia) and it will leave me very weak. The first six weeks of my recovery will be up in Boston before I can travel home to recover. Full recovery can last upwards of four months and post-surgery checkups and physicals will continue for the next two years. For my wife to be there and also aide me during my recovery, she will be using all her vacation and applying for FMLA. She will also need to travel and be in a hotel for up to two weeks. While my short term disability policy will cover approximately 60% of our monthly expenses, between Michele’s loss of income as well as travel expenses it will be very difficult to make ends meet.
Our goal is to raise $8000.00. This will cover not only our lost wages but also hotel, travel, food and ongoing household expenses. We are looking for assistance anyway you can provide. If you are unable to donate money but could donate air or hotel mileage points that would be great.
I am excited and honored about being able to give my brother another chance at life. As the doctors said to him, “there are people in this hospital that are here because they made bad choices in their lives, you’re here because you got dealt a bad set of cards. It is not your fault.” We have prayed a lot over this, and are confident that the operation will be a success!
