Jim Yoerkie is a seasoned veteran in the Display Marketing Industry, with over 23 years of experience, most of which has been with Collective Goods. Jim was among the first reps to sign on with the new Business Display Division of Reading is Fun in 1997. Jim has trained dozens of people in his tenure as "Jim, the bookman," including me, 21 years ago. Jim lives with his wife, Kathy, in New Brittain, Ct. and services schools and businesses in Western Ct.
5 years ago, Jim was diagnosed with Melanoma. Unfortunately, by the time it was discovered, the cancer had spread to his lungs. Since that time, Jim has continued as an active rep, even expanding and having some of the best years of his career, all the while struggling with his lung cancer, which has included experimental drug therapies and several surgeries. Upbeat and positive through it all, he has been a real trooper.
If you attended the 2016 Collective Goods conference in Las Vegas, you may recall seeing Jim. He was the one riding the red scooter. He had just had extensive chemo-therapy and was too sick to walk but not too sick to attend such an important event as that one!
Two weeks ago, Jim had a seizure while working in the field and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. After an MRI, it was discovered that the cancer has, now, spread to his brain. He has begun chemical and radiation therapy but continues to have seizures, now, at a rate of 3 to 4 a day.
Jim is scared but determined to beat this thing. His goal is to live to be at least 84 so he can attend his grand daughter, Sidney's, college graduation.
This disease has created severe financial hardship for Jim and Kathy. If you know Jim, or even if you don't, please consider helping him in this great time of need.
