Jim Rawls' Cancer Support Fund

Very recently my dad, Jim Rawls, was diagnosed with both lymphoma and pancreatic cancer. In this case, pancreatic cancer can only be controlled and never cured, leaving my dad to have to undergo chemotherapy for the rest of his life, creating a great deal of medical expenses. After insurance covers the treatment, there is a deductible of $2,200 for the chemo and a co-payment of $800 per month for nausea patches. I want to raise $12,000 in order to cover one year of cancer treatment for my dad; while my family will be covering chemotherapy treatment costs for a long while, I believe having just one year of financial help would be beneficial during this stressful transition. My mother, Sara Rawls, is currently working and taking care of my dad at the same time, so any little bit of help counts.

My dad was a high school teacher for 43 years and baseball coach for 34 years. In addition, he also coached for both myself and my sister's softball teams growing up. After all those years, he finally retired last year in 2017 but there is no doubt that he has touched many lives through his teaching/coaching. My dad is my greatest role model and living far away from him while he is going through this has not been easy so this is my way of being there for my dad after all the years he has been there for me.
