JJ and Jalyn Mayer need our help. JJ and Jalyn have been through more in the last several years than most of us could ever imagine. They suffered the loss of their beautiful mother 2 years ago and now their father, a very much loved family Optometrist in Thousand Oaks, California has just passed on September 24, after losing his battle with long standing illness.
JJ, 22 and Jalyn 20, were just 13 and 11 when their mother suffered 2 strokes that rendered her completely helpless and unable to speak. She was in a care facility for 3 years. Dr. Mayer and the kids would drive early every morning to pick Carol up from the facility and bring her to the Office so Dr Mayer and his staff could care for her. They would make the drive back to the Valley each night to have Carol back in time for bed. Dr. Mayer always said, he wanted her to know she was still, ever so much loved and a part of this family.
Once the kids were older, they decided as a family to bring Carol home and care for her themselves. She would be at the office while the kids were in school, then once the kids were home, they would take over her care until Dr Mayer got home from work. They would then do their homework and all the while, managed to continue to get great grades.
They did this with constant patience and love for years, until Carol passed away in June of 2018. Their complete commitment, love, devotion and care, truly says everything about their family.
Sadly, Dr Mayer had not taken care of himself during this time and suffered many of his own health challenges. He went into a rapid decline in recent months. the children, once again stepped up to tend to their father with love and patience through his final days.
As Dr. Mayer had to cut his office hours for years to care for Carol and paid out of pocket for her many special therapies, foods, supplements and treatments, the kids can surely use are help now, in their time of need.
Though they would never ask themselves, they truly need help. We know times are so hard for so many right now, but hope you can find it in your heart to help JJ and Jalyn as they grieve the loss of their parents and try to figure out life ahead. It would be appreciated more than words can say.
