Jim Burbage Needs Your Help

Jim Burbage is our father, brother, and friend. He is a master craftsman, artisan, surfer, sailor, builder, antiquer, and traveler. He is 71 years old and still self-employed, working in a marina on the eastern shore of Maryland. He is an interesting, self-educated man who has had a few bumps along the way. He has been in recovery for over fourteen years and has worked hard to build strong relationships with his children (Kim, Michael, and Sarah) and his other family and friends.

In November he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Follicular Lymphoma and he is now facing the financial burden that accompanies such a diagnosis, which is well beyond his means. Our fund raising target is $12,000 to help cover the cost of six months of chemotherapy, medication, imaging (both CT and PET scans), doctors’ visits, some loss of income, and follow up testing. His only insurance is Medicare, and although we are all grateful for the coverage that provides, the costs are still staggering. Without your help, Jim will not be able to complete his treatments and will, within a few months, be unable to keep his home.

He has just completed the first of six rounds of chemo and is doing remarkably well. He is so appreciative of the support he’s getting from his family and friends. Those of us who know Jim want him in our lives for many, many years to come. Any help is most appreciated!
