Hi Everyone,
My name is Jill Carroll. After over a year in remission, its back and I have stage 4 cervical cancer. I am a single mother of two children, Kylee, and Kameron. Kameron still lives at home and is a junior in high school. I am a very faithful woman. I do not like statistics and numbers because I know miracles do happen and I’m faithfully counting on one. As for reality, however the average prognosis for cancer victims in my category is between 8 and 12 months after diagnosis and it’s now been 6 months. On the upside 15% like me make it to 5 years. I believe I will be one of those and beyond and beat those odds because I know the sky is the limit with God. I have one more chemo treatment to go and then another PET Scan is in January. From there we reevaluate treatment to see where we go. I live in the Gainesville; FL area and I go to Shands University of Florida Research Hospital. I am so thankful for my doctors and all the staff. It’s been a blessing to have them all in my corner.
I am thankful I have my parents, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who have loved and supported. I am handling chemo better than most, so that’s a blessing. I have lost my hair and I have lost weight and as you can imagine I am no longer able to work. Recently I started receiving Social Security which the Federal Govt offers Stage 4 Terminal patients, which I am thankful for but the amount is limited. Even with all the other help it still falls incredibly short every month as you can imagine and that’s a concern for me. I am constantly in prayer. There are many alternative options that are available, Unfortunately I lack the funds to try those options.
I am trusting God and essentially asking individuals I do not know hoping that some how my situation touches you. I very much appreciate any help you can give.
Love,
Jill
