CASAC Training Drug & Alcohol Counselor

Hello family, friends, associates and those who are just seeing me for the first time. Some of you know my background and history while others don't. For those who don't here's a brief intro. Do you believe that people can actually change for the better and not remain a product of their environment for the rest of their lives? There are those of you who can relate. I'm a woman who was raised in an emotionally unstable environment that caused me to make very bad decisions in life. I have experienced life in the streets of NYC, homelessness and the shelter system. I sold drugs for a short time in the streets but wanted more and that led to my incarceration of 4 years.  Most of my 20's I abused both drugs and alcohol and became dependent on those so as to not face the reality of my instability. I was mandated to attend an outpatient program for 6 month and there is where I saw the need. There were people who were in far worse condition than what I was in. Just to think that I was providing these people with destruction. From that point I realized what I wanted to do with my life. People do need help and need someone who will listen as they speak. This has been a passion of mine but I never acted upon doing it....until now. I've been maried for almost 4 years now and have been working in a retail job for over six years. This is not where I see myself for the next 5-10 years. I want to help and assist in rehabilitation and recidivism. It has a strong presence in our communities and as time progresses it will get worse. The training courses necessary for me to take cost what is indicated above. My husband and I can not afford for me to take this course and pay for it. This is why I began this fundraiser in hopes that many will be touched by my story and know that miracles do happen because I am one of them. If you have any questions do feel free to ask.
