I met my sister-in-law Jillian Ficara (Laubenthal) 18 years ago when I was introduced to my husbands family. She has always been supportive, loving, caring and one of the kindest and strongest women I have ever met.
Jill was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in early May of this year. She is recently started chemotherapy while awaiting the results of genetic test s that will determine the need for a double mastectomy or a lumpectomy.
Jill and her husband Chris with their 8 year old son Adam live out of state in a mainly coastal seasonal area of N.J. They both work all summer to save for the off season of fall and winter, they are a two-income family. During Jill's medical treatments she has to be careful not to be exposed to outside germs, therefore has been unable to work, due to blood counts being low and pure exhaustion, to save for the upcoming seasons. Chris has been great trying to pick up the shortfall as well as take care of his wife.
We, as a family, can not be with her to help her with daily routines, caring for her or her family in their time of need. We can however try to make her journey a little bit easier with "one" less worry of paying the bills. We along with other family and friends would like to help to ease the burden by raising as much as we can for her, Chris and Adam.
