On September 30th, while driving home to Red Rock from Austin, TX, Jill was hit head on in a horrible car accident. Tragically the driver of the other car did not survive and had no car insurance.
Jill's new car is a total loss but probably saved her life. We are all thankful that Jill did not suffer any major internal injuries, however, the accident left her with a broken clavicle, broken ribs and fractured sternum, broken pelvis, broken knee and sprained ankles. After surgery, Jill spent a week at Dell Seton trauma unit and two weeks at HealthSouth learning how to function in a wheelchair, as she will not be able to walk again probably until the end of this year.
Jill's family and friends need your help trying to help her meet some financial needs, many due to the uninsured motorist. Her new employer terminated her employment due to the accident, since she cannot work. She does have COBRA available from her previous employer, but it only covers medical and she must pay the full premium with no employer contribution toward the cost of that coverage. She does not have access disability insurance or FMLA coverage, nor a source of income for her mounting medical bills.
What Jill needs help with as she recovers:
- Medical costs including rehabilitation and equipment and medications
- Food/meal delivery services or frozen meals
- Uber/Lyft so she can get to doctor and PT appointments
- Help to care and feed her animals (two dogs, a cat, horse, donkey, and chickens)
- Costs associated with getting a new car, as soon as she is able to drive again
- Laptop so she is able to look for a new job
- People to keep her company and visit with her
Jill continues to work hard through physical therapy and she maintains a positive warrior spirit during the long road to recovery she has ahead. She is so thankful and yet overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from her friends and family. She wants nothing more than to be able to put her life back together again but needs financial help getting there.
