Jill Needs Our Help to Beat Cancer

Donation protected
I recently asked Jill what she would do to be healthy, she responded “Anything!” This is her being true to her word. Facing with courage and grace the moment she is choosing to share her story with the world. Truly one of the hardest moments for anyone facing a life threatening cancer diagnosis. Hearing and seeing fractured faces, fear, feeling like a burden and even shame can be overwhelming. But so can the power of prayer, love, kindness, and the goodness in humanity when you allow those around you to help you and wrap you their strength. Jill needs our help.

I remember meeting Jill 5 years ago at a party. She immediately stood out, her beauty radiates the kind of light and attraction that you envy in your twenties and you admire as you mature. But, it isn’t her appearance that stands out when I think of Jill, it is her unconditional kindness and her quiet ability to conquer life with grace and without expecting anything in return. Her intrinsic nature to love, give and put those around her first always. It is these attributes that she has applied to her battle with Ovarian Cancer that began in 2015.  If you know Jill, you know her pride and strength would never accept help if it wasn’t critical. Unfortunately, it is. And just a small donation to help cover her medical costs and make the difference between her healing, and her suffering quietly as her health deteriorates.

I bet many people do not know Jill has endured multiple invasive surgeries, with more to come, along with horrific side effects from chemo therapy. She has quietly lived with her paralyzing fear that she could leave her husband of 25 years, or even worse not be here to know her son and daughter as they grow into young adults. Jill has used her precious strength, strength and energy she needs to apply to her healing to endure much of what she has faced without sharing her story publically or accepting help. Her and Chris, don’t want to burden people, or see pity in the faces of those they love and pain in their hearts as they share their story.  They do not want to let the “C word” define them, or have to talk about it non-stop.

But the truth is, they need help. Lots of help. Help that literally can save Jill’s life. Not only does disability only provide a fraction of regular income, but Chris was recently unemployed. Jill’s cancer has progressed to a critical state, she was just in the hospital for 21 days. The treatments she now needs will be over $1200 dollars a month. In addition to money. I can tell you that love, a homemade meal (she is on a special diet), a prayer, an offer to help clean, can do so much more than fill a stomach or leave a bathroom sparkling. Tiny acts of love and kindness heal as much as any medical treatment I have ever seen. If you can spare a small donation, and a prayer to lift the Toney’s up so they know they are no longer alone on their journey, I know it will have a profound affect.

For those of you that do not know me I have seen what love AND support can do to heal ovarian cancer. Jill and Chris asked me to share their story because I know the power we have to alleviate the burden and stresses that are contributing to making Jill’s health decline. I know the power we have to help her get treatment that isn’t covered by medical insurance. My sister was diagnosed with OVCA in 2012, my sister’s cell type was aggressive and at time of her surgery she was stage 3. We just celebrated her 6 years of being cancer free. I know times are tough for many right now, and if you can give, even a little, you have the power to change a family’s life. Regardless, thank you for taking the time to read Jill’s story. Please pray for her healing.
