Help Jhansi Fight High Grade Brain Tumor

Donation protected

I hope you’ll give me a few minutes of your valuable time. I want to share what I learnt from my cousin’s story of hope, courage, and positivity in fighting her cancer. She was a cheerful, loving, unbelievably strong person who always puts her friends and family before herself.

On Dec 23rd, 2017, my cousin Jhansi Patibandla then 29 years old  who lives in Secaucus , NJ was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (Grade 4 brain tumor). Her diagnosis came as a shock to her husband Sudheer Patibandla, 4-year-old son Ishaan and her extended family. In January of 2018 she underwent surgery to remove 80% of this high-grade tumor, and had shunts placed in her brain to drain blocked CSF fluids. She further underwent a vigorous 2 months of chemotherapy followed by weeks of radiation. For the most part of 2018 she was either in a rehabilitation center, or at the hospital having further surgeries to fix the shunts due to infections.

From Nov 2018, Jhansi recovered enough to be taken home. She was able to walk & exercise with help. Her family was very happy with her progress, but that happiness was short lived. Unfortunately, her tumor showed signs of progression. In Feb 2019 she was treated with Gamma Knife Radiation followed by Avastin treatment from July 2019, but her growing tumor has become immune to these treatments. She has blurred vision, nausea, dizziness and cannot even stand by herself anymore yet.

Her husband was by her side all through, every day from 4am, taking 4 trains from NJ to NYC hospitals, to work, aggressively looking for new doctors when her current doctors gave up. At this point of time, when her husband is in deep financial debt, with medical bills racking up, he relentlessly called up a lot of hospitals and clinical trials to enroll her in their experimental programs. He is Currently in talks with NYU to enroll in their clinical trial.

I’m Vamsi Vasireddy. My cousin Jhansi is a two-year Glioblastoma (H3K27M) cancer survivor.
