Hello Everyone! I have created this page to help raise money for my beautiful niece Carmen\'s medical expenses. She was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis.

God bless her Mom for being so diligent, for over a year now, in getting a diagnosis! It all started with a funny rash on Carmen\'s face and hands and then followed later with muscle weakness and diminished flexablility. Carmen is very athletic, so it was easy to see the change in her mobility over the past year.
There is not cure at this time for dermatomyositis. However, with treatment, Carmen can achieve remission and get back to her active lifestyle!
Carmen will be admitted to the hospital this weekend, Friday, April 13th, where she will stay the entire weekend. They will do biopsy\'s, further testing and begin intravenous prednizone and methotrexate and be observed for possible reaction to treatment. She will then go back weekly for intravenous drug therapy as well as take prednizone orally daily..this will continue for atleast a couple of months.
Carmen does have medical insurance, however the deductable alone is 10k.
