Hello everyone-
I came to the ER at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Monday 10/8 straight from the airport because I was EXTREMELY out of breath and my left leg was swollen after the flight.
Turns out I had a huge blood clot in my leg and pieces of it had traveled into my lung. Pulmonary embolisms are really serious and I’m lucky to be alive. I had a procedure done on Tuesday to help try to dissolve the clot via a catheter in my artery and I’ve been put on blood thinners. I was in ICU for 3 days and now I’m in a regular room as I continue to recover.
My leg is still hurting and swollen, and the lung issues caused strain on my heart. I’ve been on oxygen since I arrived here and will most likely be going home with a tank to help me breathe.
I don’t like putting my personal things like this out there, but my mom and I are really in a bind. She’s been missing some shifts to take care of me, and I’ve missed a whole week of work and will most likely miss a few days more. I am paid hourly, not salary, have no health insurance and I don’t have any PTO or sick days (thanks, florida labor laws!) so you can see how this is all overwhelming and stressful. On top of the hospital, procedure, and prescription bills, I’m not sure how I am even going to pay my rent.
If there is anything you can donate, I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my
heart. Asking for help in such a public manner is a bit embarrassing, but I don’t know what else to do.
